It’s Time

Clock- Get UP

1.      For those who agree its time, the first step is to give yourself Permission to Win. Give yourself the right to be and have it all. Most of us have never told ourselves it is our right to achieve and feel great about being successful. No regrets, no second guessing. Win!!!

2.      The next step is to identify and imagine what you truly want AND need out of life. In the words of my recently passed brother, Apostle Mike Mitchell, “Don’t have a low budget with your imagination, God has great plans for your life and none of them include defeat!” Write them down, be detailed and specific.

3.      Review your list and ask yourself if you truly deserve the items on your list and write the reasons down. Why? We often think we are not worthy of more. Eliminate the subconscious negative talk and clear your mind for YES!

4.      A study of the most successful people revealed 17 traits they share. Three are the most critical: Burning Desire – Be passionate about your goals so when obstacles arrive you will not give up. Specialized Knowledge – Be an expert and valuable to the marketplace. Decisiveness -Train yourself to see an opportunity and take advantage without hesitation. Successful people make up their minds quickly and change them slowly.

5.      Make a plan and then make your move. Stop trying and start doing. Stop researching and start implementing. Knowledge, ideas and hunches have no value until you test them out. Do it. Don’t worry about failure or not getting the results you desire. No action = No results. We did not land on the moon until the spacecraft was launched. History would not be made if they never left the Launch Pad.

6.      The final step is to not worry about “When” you will achieve. When happens when it happens. To bring this into clarity, I have included a modified version of my post titled, “When”. Continued below…

When am I going to start seeing results? When is my income going to increase? When will I be out of debt? When can I be able to finally exhale?

This questioning of when is common. When, is a desire to know the outcome as a source of motivation and security. My answer for anyone seeking to make a change, develop a new business, product or overcome a great hurdle is that when is a natural progression of what. What are you doing to affect change? What are the needed elements and what are you doing to help bring the dream to a reality?

Who?

You are who. As the title of Pat Boone song says, “Everything begins and ends with you.” It is you who must take control of the change you seek. Start with you and the rest will materialize. Michael Jackson said it best, “I’m starting with the man in the mirror, I’m asking him to change his ways. No message could have been any clearer, if you wanna make the world a better place, take a look at yourself and make a change.”

Where?

You begin where you are; the place where you are uncomfortable and unhappy. You don’t wait for you to be somewhere else. Your inspiration is the fact that you are somewhere you no longer want to be. Indentify with this place as the place where you do not want to return. Use your situation as the fuel to get your engine started.

Why?

Don’t spend too much time thinking about why something occurred. The answer to why constantly changes as you learn more information. Why are you not achieving your goals? It could be a lot of reasons; your health, experience, timing, intellect, race, gender, physical makeup, location, attitude, etc.. The interesting thing about why is, we never really know why. The whys are usually convenient excuses and sometimes the why is a spiritual intervention and is for our own good. As my mother used to tell us, “Yours is not to reason why, yours is just to do or die!”

How?

How are you going to do things differently? How are you going to respond? How will you monitor your actions so that you can proceed? The ultimate how, how is this going to materialize, is not for you to know. A good friend and mentor, world renowned motivational speaker Les Brown, puts it this way, “How, is none of your business. How is God’s business!” Allow the universe to work in your life and remember you don’t need to know how babies are born with two ears, two eyes, a heart and skin. God will take care of the how.

What?

This is the question that leads to the eventuality of when. When is a natural progression of what you are doing. What action are you taking? What have you learned so that you do not repeat the same mistakes or same choices? What can you do differently to get a different outcome? What makes you worthy of this goal or dream? If you do not know what, what must you do to be worthy? Perhaps educate yourself, humble yourself, change your attitude towards others or change your habits. Whatever you have done in the past is what got you where you are. You made an appointment to be here whether you realized it or not. Do what you know you need to do so you can arrive to when.

I understand the anxiousness and desire to know when. I feel it myself. Focusing on when is a major distraction. It is akin to focusing on the problem and not the solution. The solution is what. When is the unknown that must be anchored in the two words we call faith and hope.

Implement the advice as detailed here in “It’s Time” and I believe you will have the peace, results and endurance to make it happen.

Please share your comments as my goal is to give you enough bite size information to help you make it happen. I appreciate you taking the time to read and travel with me through the It’s Time series.

Thank you,
